Nick
Anthony began dancing at his family's studio, The Hackworth School of
Performing Arts, in Easthampton, MA when he was 3 years old. The studio recently celebrated its
76th year and Nick is one of the family's 4th generation dancers. Growing up,
he studied everything: jazz, lyrical, ballet, modern, contemporary, tap, and
gymnastics. He also acted and sang in several music theater productions and
took voice lessons for 6 years. It wasn't until around the age of 10,
however, that Nick discovered his true love of dance and music in the style of
hip hop. Nick taught the first hip hop class of his young life at the tender
age of 12 at his mother's studio, alongside his cousin and best friend, Teddy
Forance. Their class was a huge hit so they continued to collaborate and teach
together quite often. Nick continued to teach and compete with his company
teams at many competitions and conventions until he graduated high school,
winning many high scores and special awards along the way, particularly for his
hip hop and gymnastics abilities. He went on to attend Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT where he studied Entrepreneurship and Music. He danced,
choreographed, and sang quite a bit, as he was a member of the university's
dance company and choir. He also did a study abroad program where he spent 4
months in Los Angeles, CA in the spring of 2009. He has had internships with Sony Music
Entertainment and with one of the biggest, most successful dance agencies in
the country, Bloc Talent Agency, Inc. Here he met, worked with, and became
friends with some of the industry's top dancers and choreographers. While in
LA, Nick also auditioned for several music videos and tours and worked with
some of the industry's top dancers and choreographers while taking their
classes at world renowned studios such as Millennium Dance Complex, Debbie
Reynolds School of Dance, The Edge Performing Arts Center, and others. Since
graduating from college this past spring, Nick has been working hard to
continue dancing, teaching, choreographing, singing, and acting, as he plans to
make the permanent move to LA next year to pursue his passion of becoming a
professional artist. Nick’s classes are always energetic and fun, yet his
movement is very smooth, feel good, and groovy, as it incorporates a great deal
of musicality and emotion. The agency Nick interned at while in LA said they
would represent him when he moved out there, so Nick is truly looking forward
to working with them from the other side of the table come this time next year!
Look out for him in these upcoming years in all the dance movies, TV shows, and
musical tours...hopefully you'll be able to see him!
